RE: Yellowstone (Fishing Bridge) to Devils Tower - mileage

This is what I get with my DeLorme Street Atlas 2008: Alt. 1: 566 miles Alt. 2: 596 miles Alt. 3: 481 miles Now I just wish I could afford the fuel to take one of these routes!!

RE: Yellowstone & Bear Tooth highway

I would recommend getting a site at one of the campgrounds in Cody, and do the loop from there, as Chief Joseph Scenic Hwy is also very pretty. Also, when you get to the top be sure and stop at the "top of the world store" and get some ice cream. It's kind of a tradition for folks who go through.

RE: bullard's beach

We also prefer loop A, site 18 I think? You are aware that loops B & C aren't scheduled to reopen until June 15th. They've been adding 50amp and redoing water & sewer. Should be nice when they get it all done.

RE: Wyoming HWY 14 /14A between I90 and Lovell

Took a 19' tt over 14A eastbound way back when. Am I glad I did it?? YES!! Would I do it again with the present rig?? NO!!!!! I do plan on leaving the 5er down below sometime and doing the loop with just the tv. Beautiful country!!

RE: Sidney, NE to Hill City, SD

14A through Spearfish canyon will take some time but is a very pretty drive. No clearance concerns though.

RE: Best route from Butte to W.Yellowstone, 287 or 191?

Tough choice. Flip a coin! We prefer 191, but thats just us, and the fact that we like to spend time in Bozeman every time we go through the area.

RE: Route 30 Kelso/Longview Wa to Astoria Oregon

As stated 30 is a good way to go. We prefer Rte 4 on the Wa side of the river. To us its a little more scenic and not quite as much traffic as 30. Also the bridge at Astoria takes you to the western edge of town where as 30 takes you trough town. Personal preference I guess.

RE: New record low temperature of -40 reported

Kinda makes one wonder how the homesteaders survived the winters back then. Probably because they didn't have a "wind chill factor" to tell them how cold it really was!!??

RE: How many North Dakotans here?

Born and raised in Bottineau. My brother and his family, along with other kin, still live there. I came out here in 1967 after 4 years in the Air Force. Have made regular visits back there but have only camped at Lake Sakakawea SP, and that was 30 years ago. Enjoyed looking at the pics of the park that were posted recently. Didn't say what loop they were in though?? Plan on taking the 5er back there soon. Would like to try Lewis & Clark SP, Fort Abe Lincoln, and Lake Metigoshe. The lake might be a little tight for our rig though. I see where Botno made the news recently. Coldest spot in the nation at -32! YIKES!!!!! Take care..................Marv

RE: Fort Stevens SP to Bullards SP via the 101

We did most of that route last Sept. We started out at Ft Stevens and camped at Netarts Bay, (just west of Tillamook), koa at Lincoln City, and the resort at Winchester Bay, and did day trips from these. IMHO you will have to really push it to do 250 miles down that hwy in one day. Its not only the small towns, but the road itself will slow you down with some pretty good hills, construction, awesome scenery, etc. Take care and enjoy..................Marv

RE: Sizes in Oregon State CGs

Go to the Oregon State Parks web site and you will find they have a layout of all the parks with a length and available utilities at each site. We use it all the time!!

RE: 10 Gal Drain Plug Size ?

We have a 10 gal. suburban in our 5er. Found that 27mm fits nicely. Had to use an impact wrench to get it out the first time!! Sure hope the gorilla that put it in doesn't do oil changes in his spare time!!

RE: McMinnville to Brookings Oregon

We took 18 from Lincoln City to McMinnville and back last Sept to visit the museum and found it to be a very good road. Enjoy

RE: Cardinal 31RK LE

We've had ours for just under a year now and love it. We looked at more rigs than I care to count when we were shopping 5ers, but the minute we stepped into the Cardinal we both felt comfortable. Our only problem is we don't get to take it out near as much as we'd like to. Take care................Marv

RE: Dump valve location

After having a TT with the dump valve in back and now a 5er with the valve forward of the wheels, I've come to the conclusion that the location of the dump valve depends on where your black tank is located. The less distance the nasty stuff has to travel the better. Make sense?? Marv

RE: How To Control Slides?

We had the selector valve assembly installed on ours. It sure comes in handy when we just want to open the living/dining room at rest stops.

RE: Big rig friendly parks in OR & WA

If you haven't already, check out Ft Stevens state park out of Astoria, Winchester Bay just South of Reedsport, and Silver Falls state park East of Salem. Just did these recently. Had no trouble with any of them with our rig. Enjoy............Marv
